Minor Drowns at Buck Island, St Thomas

ST THOMAS, VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES -

On 05/27/23, at approximately 1020 hours, St Thomas Rescue, and the Virgin Islands Fire Emergency Medical Service (FEMS) responded to a report of a drowning in relation to a diving accident at Buck Island, St Thomas.

Rescue Officers met with a dive boat at Yacht Haven Grande, who advised that an individual partaking in a diving excursion had gotten in to distress while underwater, and became unresponsive.

Lifesaving measures were attempted by Rescue Officers, and FEMS ambulance crews.

One individual, a minor, was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Medical Center in critical condition.
